Saif Sporting Club were off to a winning start in the Bangladesh Premier League 2018-19 season as they handed Rahmatganj Muslim Friends Society a 2-1 defeat at Rafiq Uddin Bhuiyan Stadium in Mymensingh, making its top-flight football debut, Saturday.
Rahmatganj could have taken the lead in the 15th minute through Congo forward Siyo Zunapiyo, who struck the post after getting the better of goalkeeper Ziaur Rahman.

And right on the start of the second half, Saif Sporting doubled their lead when midfielder Mehbub Hasan Nayan connected from a through pass from South Korean forward Seungil Park.
Faisal Ahmed reduced the arrears from the penalty spot in the 90th minute, but it proved to be nothing but a consolation for the Old Dhaka outfit.
After the game, Saif Sporting head coach, England’s Jonathan McKinstry said, “We played with dominance. But the opponent played well at the end. I am happy to have won the first game.”
