Sheikh Russel Krira Chakra’s three-match winning streak came to an end as they were held 1-1 by Saif Sporting Club in the Bangladesh Premier League Friday at Rafiq Uddin Bhuiyan Stadium in Mymensingh.

After a goalless first half, Sheikh Russel took the lead in the 79th minute when Uzbekistan forward Azizov Alisher headed home from a corner.

The Blues’ delight however didn’t last long as Saif Sporting brought parity just four minutes later.

Sheikh Russel defender Yeasin Khan put through his own net while trying to clear a cross from South Korean forward Seungil Park.

Sheikh Russel head coach Saiful Bari Titu expressed disappointment after the game.

He said, “We should’ve won. Compared to the other matches, we got lots of chances but were only able to score once. We should’ve scored more. But I guess that is football.”

Sheikh Russel now have 10 points from four matches, while Saif Sporting have equal number of points having played a game more.
